There are a two primary methods to hang your front brake cable on your cross bike. There’s the fork yoke which bolts onto the font of the fork crown. The advantages are that you don’t need a housing stop on the headset (and it’s associated stack height). It can also improve cable routing by letting the cable get around even a low handlebar stem without a sharp kink. The disadvantages are that you can’t run a high straddle and if your fork isn’t drilled, you’re out of luck. Then there’s the traditional headset mounted cable stops. They allow practically unlimited straddle cable height. As were alluded to above, the disadvantages are increased stack height and the potential for some pretty nasty cable bends.

The Split Hanger is a binder type cable hanger forged of 6061-T6 aluminum alloy. The hanger has a hole through its forward facing platform, and another is bored through the front for the binder bolt. The hole is tapped with 5mm by .8mm threads for a 15mm long steel bolt. The bolt has a 4mm hex fitting and a 3.5 gram weight. With the holes and threads in place the front of the piece is cut through vertically and the bolt is installed. The cable stop is made of Black plastic and has no convenience adjuster. It snaps in place and can swivel as necessary. The clamp section is 10mm high. The Split Hanger comes in a 1" and a 1 1/8" diameter in Black or Silver. The 1" size weighs 21.5 grams and the 1 1/8" size weighs 25 grams. Made in the Orient.
